The Opportunity:
The Renal and Metabolic Program has a global profile as one of the most impactful kidney research programs in the world. This profile is based on a broad array of high profile clinical trials and other research projects.
The Research Fellow is required to play a role in the ongoing conduct of existing studies, as well as assisting in the development of new proposals and developing their own research program.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist/Lead design and implementation of funded trials within the Renal Program
- Primary responsibilities will be towards a platform adaptive trial and a cluster randomised trial aiming to reduce cardiovascular risk
- Assist in the development of publications, presentations, grant applications and other documents related to the research activities above
- Work with the Program Head or Program Lead in developing new study proposals and to develop independent research program
- Take the lead and assist with the preparation of grant applications and manuscript preparation
- Maintain existing collaborations and establish others
- Provide support and co-supervision of higher degree research students
- Provide a consistent level of contribution to the research activities of the program
- Remain abreast of developments in the related to the program that are relevant to the study and the Institute; providing a source of information to colleagues within the Institute
Our Successful Candidate has:
- Specialist training complete
- PhD submitted/accepted
- Understanding of research methods and importance
- Interest or experience in the development and coordination of research projects and clinical trials and evidence implementation
- Experience and expertise in writing research reports
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills and strategic thinking
- Interest in developing skills in data interpretation, analysis and/or statistical skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well and flexibly i.e. autonomously, in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders
- Strong focus on delivering high quality of work
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the Internet
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments

We are currently looking for Consultant Nephrologists to join us on this exciting journey in the Nephrology service within the Department of Medicine. Candidates should demonstrate good teamwork and communication skills, a strong background in clinical nephrology, experience in all aspects of renal replacement therapy and a commitment to patient centred care. Candidates are expected to contribute to both inpatient and outpatient patient care, and there are opportunities for candidates with sub-speciality interests within nephrology to be involved in service development.
Interested candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Singapore Medical Council, and hold a postgraduate qualification from The Royal College of Physicians, The Royal Australasian College of Physicians, The Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the American Board of Internal Medicine, or a qualification recognised by these bodies.
