ANZSN AWARDS PROGRAM

ANZSN Awards recognise and honour the outstanding contributions and achievements of the Society's Members across career stages, the domains of basic science and clinical science, and within craft groups. These Awards are presented annually and to preserve the honour conferred by an ANZSN Award there shall be only one winner in each individual Award in any given year (excluding any approved 'runner up' prize/s for individual Awards).  The process by which ANZSN Awards are determined varies by the type of Award, but may include one of the following process steps: Call for nominations, with applications assessed (by a sub-committee of the Scientific Program and Awards Committee) on their merits against relevant criteria, with the most outstanding candidate being declared the winner; or Call for abstracts (with or without an additional written submission), which are then reviewed and ranked, with the winner determined as follows: The highest scoring abstract; or Highest scoring abstracts shortlisted for an oral presentation and adjudication by a judging panel at the ASM; or Highest scoring abstracts shortlisted for adjudication of additional written submission by a judging panel.

Awards presented at the ANZSN Annual Scientific Meeting and the Aotearoa New Zealand Meeting acknowledge outstanding research contributions and achievements of ANZSN Members across both clinical and basic sciences and at varying career stages. Nomination for an Award is made during the Call for Abstracts process for the respective meeting each year.

The abstracts submitted for an Award are ranked, with the winner determined as follows:

  • The highest scoring abstract; or
  • Highest scoring abstracts shortlisted for an oral presentation and adjudication by a judging panel at the ASM; or
  • Highest scoring abstracts shortlisted for adjudication of additional written submission by a judging panel.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Only ANZSN Members who are financial at the date of ASM abstract closing are eligible to nominate for an Award.  For any additional eligibility criteria please refer to the information below about the individual awards.
