The ANZSN Distinguished Service Award was established in 2021 and is the Society's highest leadership award. The Award recognises outstanding leadership in Nephrology as demonstrated by a significant contribution to one or more of the following areas of education and teaching, clinical care, health policy and advocacy at a national and international level. 

This Award is one of two senior career awards offered by the Society, the other being the TJ Neale Award. Senior Career is defined as more than 12 years (FTE) since the date of confirmation of RACP Fellowship or date of PhD acceptance. 

The Award is made biennially and there will be only one recipient of the Award in any given Award year. The inaugural award was presented in 2021.

The Award winner will receive a cash prize of AU$5,000

Professor David Harris is a research leader in the field of progressive chronic kidney disease, internationally recognized for his contributions to understanding the role of tubulointerstitial injury in progressive disease.

David's passion for research is driven by the goal of defining novel therapies to slow and reverse progressive chronic kidney disease.
